There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.

Too many aspiring writers let the “rules of writing” swallow them, chew them up, and spit them out.

I’m not saying punctuation and grammar aren’t important. They have their place.

But they are NOT more important than the message and/or story.

Writing is art. There are no rules. Grammar, spelling, narrative coherence—you can ignore them and still tell a good story.
